Wordless Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday is a place to show off  your photos that speak for themselves - photos that need no words. However, if you need a few words to "set the scene", feel free! The link will go live at 12:01am Eastern Time on Wednesdays. Please use one of the buttons on the sidebar, and be sure your blog has posted before linking up!

  1. There aren’t many rules for this blog – mostly the usual ones: Every Wednesday, post a photo that speaks for itself (and you are the one to make that judgment!).
  2. Post only photos that you have authority to use.
  3. Include a link to this blog in your post - http://wordlesswednesdayagain.blogspot.com.
  4. Leave the link to your Wordless Wednesday post below on Mr. Linky.
  5. Visit other blogs that are posted, being sure to leave a comment.
  6. Enjoy!
For some reason, this piece at the Museum of the Marine Corps brought me to tears.  I stood there for a long time, with my hand on the steel...

I know those pieces are out there, but I've never seen one in person. It would have to be very moving to realize where it came from and all who were lost on that day.

My cousin's husband should have been at his desk in the world Trade Center that morning. An emergence at my cousins work took her in early and her husband had to drop their daughter off at school. He was running late and came up from the subway just in time to see the plane hit the tower.

Like you I would have been transfixed with sadness and at the same time offering a prayer of thanksgiving that my family was spared the headache of loosing a family member.

i would love to see that in person. like you ... i believe i would need to place my hand there & think. say a prayer or two. it would be a big, big moment for me. knowing myself i would probably cry. because i would think of the families & kids that went through those moments in time. (:

Very important that these symbols be preserved so that all of us who can't get to New York can remember all that was lost that fateful day.

A good friend of mine worked in the World Trade Center. Her company moved to the Jersey side less than a month before 9-11. I'm grateful she wasn't there. I can see why you were brought to tears.

I just saw one of these pieces in the Manchester area of the UK at the Imperial War Museum. It made me cry twice actually, one because of the tragedy itself, but also because I was an American over in a foreign country and it brought tears to my eyes looking at something that meant so much grief to my country.
